Two hundred students gain Lancaster Award

Two hundred students have received the Lancaster Award this year at a ceremony at LICA attended by friends and family.

The Lancaster Award prepares students for the job market by ensuring they develop the skills employers want, whether through work experience, volunteering or social activities.

Administered by the Centre for Enterprise, Employability and Careers (CEEC), the Award requires students to complete a skills audit and job application before appearing before a mock job interview panel of an employer and careers advisor.

Students, their families and friends joined CEEC and other University staff to hear speeches from John Clayton, BBC Radio Lancashire Managing Editor, Professor Amanda Chetwynd, Pro-Vice Chancellor for the Colleges and the Student Experience at Lancaster University, and Joanne Allday, Managing Director and Founder of Showing Off Ltd.

All three speakers praised the hard work, dedication and diverse skills which the  successful students displayed in their applications.
