09/17/2001 15:54:21

EX Libris will supply its product ALEPH for the new library system, due to go live in July 2002. The Aleph system offers Library users a whole range of new and enhanced functions. These include:

Saved search strategies, which can be re-run on a regular basis, with results then e-mailed automatically to the user's specified address; E-mailing and saving of search results; Online requesting of new items for Library stock ;

Enhanced search features on the catalogue, including full Boolean functionality, date limiting, and Library of Congress Subject headings for the majority of stock; For teaching staff, online requesting of items to be put into Short Loan; Annotated reading lists in the Course Reading module; Complete loans history available to each user, accessible only by PIN from their User Record, via any catalogue terminal (including over the Web). Disruption to Library users during the move to the new system should be kept to a minimum.
