Creatathon raises £900 for Art students' degree shows

05/17/2001 13:21:46

Around 20 final year art practice students held a CREATATHON on 11th May, to help raise funds for their final year degree show. Staff and students created some fascinating artwork over a 12hr period, and from the sales of artwork created and refreshments sold, raised £300. This was in addition to a further £600 in pledged sponsorships.

With a constant flow of supporters and well-wishers throughout the day, from students and staff to friends and family, there was a great atmosphere and the day proved to be a big success. Gerry Davies who attended the day said, "It was an imaginative and innovative way of raising money for a worthwhile project".

With the help of the CREATATHON the students will produce a full colour catalogue illustrating the work of all the art practice students, as well as invitations and posters. With this in mind, the art students would like to extend another invitation to everyone for the Private View of their final show on TUESDAY 19TH JUNE or from 20TH to 27TH JUNE at the Peter Scott Gallery or the Art Gallery Studio, Lonsdale Hall. Admission is absolutely free, and everyone and a friend are welcome.

Last but not least, students and staff would like to say a very big thank you to all who attended and supported the CREATATHON.
