Lancaster University commits to empolyees with disabilities

Lancaster University has been awarded the Disability Two Ticks symbol by Jobcentre Plus from October 2004.

This award recognises the positive commitments that are being made by Lancaster University towards existing and future employees with disabilities.

The University promises to:

­ Interview all disabled job applicants who meet essential job criteria

­ Develop disabled employees to use their abilities

­ Make every effort to ensure disabled employees stay in employment

­ Promote awareness and training on disabilities issues

The award was officially presented by Alan Sloan, Jobcentre Plus Employment Advisor, on Tuesday, September 28. On receiving the award, Valerie Walshe Director of Personnel, said: “This is a very positive development in support of our equal opportunities policy for existing and future employees of Lancaster University.”
