Local Children Enjoy Sports Camps at LU

08/13/2003 11:24:34

This summer, hundreds of local children between the ages of 8 and 14 have had the chance to spend a fun-packed week at a 'sports camp' run by the Sports Centre at Lancaster University.

The week-long, or daily, non-residential camps give children the opportunity to take advantage of the University's facilities and to take part in different activities such as swimming, climbing, aeroball and squash. The Centre is also offering coaching in sports children might not have tried before, including water polo, yoga, dance, trampolining and archery.

The camp also includes one trip each week; so far children have enjoyed days out at Old Trafford, Camelot theme park and a wildlife park.

So far, 50 children per day have attended the camp, which has proved so popular that all courses are fully booked, except for the last week which has a very limited number of places left.
