Two Lancaster students have danced their way to success in a ballroom competition at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

Engineering student Philip Rawcliffe and psychology student Hannah Roberts achieved first place in the Under 21 British Classical Sequence Dance Championships at the famous ballroom beneath Blackpool Tower.

Philip, who comes from Darwen and attended Runshaw College in Leyland, said: “Eight years of work has finally paid of and it feels amazing! My dance partner is also in Lancaster so we can still train hard and study quite easily.”

He is also an outstanding first year student, having achieved the first and only 10 out of 10 mark from his tutor Dr George Aggidis for his tutorial submission and innovative answer on renewable energy and wave energy converters.
