People from across the region got stuck into science and engineering in a series of hands-on workshops at Lancaster University this month.

To mark National Science and Engineering Week 2008 (March 7-16), the University hosted special events ranging from taster sessions for school children in the Centre of Medical Education to workshops in Lancaster University’s Lancaster Environment Centre.

National Science and Engineering Week events at Lancaster University were organised by Lancaster University Volunteering Unit (LUVU), The Faculty of Science and Technology and The Department for Continuing Education (DCE).

National Science and Engineering Week is coordinated by the BA (British Association for the Advancement of Science) in partnership with the Engineering and Technology Board (ETB), and funded by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS).

Lancaster University Science Partnership Officer Dr Alan Darragh said: “This event is an opportunity for Lancaster University staff to pass on their enthusiasm for Science and Technology. All ten departments in the Faculty of Science & Technology offered workshops and we had a great response from both teachers and pupils. We look forward to holding more activities next year.”
