LUNCHTIME LANGUAGE CLUBS FOR STAFF - GERMAN, ITALIAN, SPANISH

Thanks to a collaboration between the Department of Continuing Education (DCE) and the Staff Learning Centre, the free language clubs will continue this term.

They are open to staff who have a basic degree of fluency, i.e. have done a DCE stage 3 course or above or who have a rusty ‘O’ level, GCSE or ‘A’ level.

Drop in, bring your sandwiches, and join in with an informal conversation session led by the tutor. No homework, written work, assessment or pressure. A

ll sessions are from 1 - 2pm. NEW for this year, Italian takes place on Fridays: 7, 14, 21, 18 November and 5 December. German takes place on Tuesdays: 4, 11, 18, 25 November and 2 December. Spanish takes place on Wednesdays: 5, 12, 19, 26 November and 3 December. Contact organiser Nigel McEwen in DCE to register your interest (ext 92625, email n.mcewen@lancaster.ac.uk).

DAAD INFORMATION SESSION.
The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) promotes international academic
relations and co-operation, particularly through exchange programmes for students and academic staff. DAAD grants are available to academic staff and students of all disciplines in the UK for participating in a wide variety of academic programmes.

ENROL NOW FOR LANGUAGES COURSES

There is still time to sign up for a weekly class in one of the 10 languages offered by the Department of Continuing Education: Arabic, Chinese Mandarin, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Modern Greek, Russian and Spanish, plus Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

These accredited, high quality courses are taught by friendly, professional tutors and start from Monday 13 October. They take place on campus for 1½ hours per week (daytimes and evenings), over one or two terms. 6 levels are offered, from beginners to improvers and advanced. For further details see website
