The Peter Scott Gallery gains national quality standard

The Peter Scott Gallery has been officially Accredited by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).

The Peter Scott Gallery presents a rich and varied programme of temporary exhibitions, while housing the University’s Art Collection, including a significant collection of Royal Lancastrian Ceramics.

The gallery's exhibition programme provides an opportunity to see nationally and internationally renowned works from collections across the country, as well as works from the University collection. The gallery also presents a series of artist talks and educational activities.

The MLA’s Museum Accreditation Scheme sets nationally agreed standards for all museums in the UK. The Peter Scott Gallery’s award proves that it meets these guidelines on how it is run, how it looks after its collections, and the services it provides to visitors.

Matt Fenton, Director of Live at LICA, said: "I am really happy about this new status as it signifies our commitment to ensuring that the Peter Scott Gallery and its collections are accessible, cared for and fully researched. It is testament to the hard work of a small but hugely committed team, and some valued volunteers, that we have achieved this important recognition."

The Live at LICA staff invited everyone to celebrate with them at the opening night of the next exhibition - General Dynamic F.U.N. - a series of 50 prints and lithographs by the collector and pioneer of Pop art, Sir Eduardo Paolozzi.
The opening event and celebration took place on Monday 22 November in the gallery.
