Retina Dance present ME:MO at Nuffield Theatre

10/06/2003 09:26:06

ME:MO. Imagine you are standing at the end of the world, on top of the highest mountain, in front of the largest sea, at that point where you can’t imagine time has ever passed. Me:Mo confronts these extremes of insignificance and magnitude in two connected dance works, Vertical Memory and Horizontal Memory.

ME:MO is a new venture for Retina Dance Company. Choreographer Philip Van Huffel is mapping new levels of discovery in a choreographic journey, enhancing the production with film by the talented and critically acclaimed Lucy Baldwin, and music by Jules Maxwell. The performances are by a talented group of international dancers.

Retina Dance Company, under the artistic direction of Philip Van Huffel, have established themselves as innovative and dynamic voices in both the British and European contemporary dance scene. Retina has created nine works to date, touring throughout the UK and Europe, India, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland Venezuela.

“ Van Huffel’s vocabulary is a fresh and unusual mix of abstract moves, mime and theatricality. He bends his dancers in amazing shapes with an intriguing interplay of limbs, quirky balances and exciting athleticism.”
