Autumn Exhibitions at Peter Scott Gallery Announced

08/19/2003 15:54:12

Between 3 and 11 September, work by this year's students on the MA Art Studio Practice at Lancaster University will be showcased at the Peter Scott Gallery.

'4WARD' features the work of Diane Douglass, Anne Marie Foster, Colin Park and Kevin Storrar, which deals with diverse themes ranging from identity and individuality, to aspects of contemporary culture through painting, printing, drawing and three-dimensional structures. Many of the works will be for sale.

Meanwhile, a wealth of previously unseen Lancaster treasures will be revealed for the first time next month when the Chambers Family Archive, housed at the Peter Scott, throws open its doors as part of the North West Archives Festival.

The Archive, a collection bequeathed to the university by Miss Mary Chambers, daughter of John Chambers, Chief Designer at Pilkington's Tile & Pottery Company during its golden era in August 2002, features previously unseen sketches for decorative ceramic designs, illustrations, rare books and photographs.

Admission to both exhibitions is free, and the gallery is open Monday to Friday, 11am to 4pm and late Thursday 6pm to 8pm with a special Saturday opening on 6 September 11am to 4pm. For more information, call 01524 593057
