Lancaster University Management School has joined the world’s top 50 business schools in the 2006 rankings of customised executive education programmes, published by the Financial Times on Monday 15th May 2006.

Professor Sue Cox, Dean of LUMS said, "After our outstanding success in the MBA rankings over the past three years, we are delighted to be achieving this new recognition for our longstanding work in customising executive education for clients across the world."

“We are delighted with the support and engagement of the LUMS Team and their ability to interpret our business requirements into tangible results.” Pat Ashworth, Head of the Talent Management Team, Co-operative Financial ServicesOne of Lancaster’s clients is Co-operative Financial Services (CFS), who recently worked in collaboration with LUMS to develop the first CFS Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Leadership for their business. "We are delighted with the support and engagement of the LUMS Team and their ability to interpret our business requirements into tangible results," said Pat Ashworth, Head of the Talent Management Team. "The programme is an integral part of our Talent Management Strategy to develop our senior leaders and executives of the future. It has been designed around our business strategy and values, utilising leading and innovative approaches to personal and leadership development. The result is a world-class programme, which provides participants with a unique learning experience and recognition of their achievements through the award of the Diploma. From an organisational perspective the programme delivers tangible benefits in terms of strategic business projects, which enables us to demonstrate real return on investment."

The Financial Times customised ranking is compiled from responses to two types of survey: a corporate client questionnaire – based on telephone interviews with top purchasers for each school – and an online survey of factual data that is completed by each participating business school, with 80% of the final score coming from the telephone interviews.

Dr Sally Watson, Director of the Management Development Division, one of three groups responsible for the provision of leadership, executive and enterprise development in LUMS commented: "Our success has been based on the enthusiasm of our clients to place strategic importance in our customised programmes with business needs and core values embedded in the design. Without ever compromising the academic rigour of a Lancaster University qualification, participants in our programmes graduate with a clear understanding of the directions in which their organisations want to progress and how to bring about that progression in very practical ways."
