Management School awarded prestigious AACSB International accreditation

04/08/2008 12:00:58

Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) has been awarded the highest possible standard of achievement for business schools after being granted AACSB International status for its programmes. The prestigious recognition means LUMS becomes one of a small group of business schools to hold triple accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS, and the Association of MBAs.

LUMS Dean Professor Sue Cox described the AACSB International accreditation as “the hallmark of excellence in management education” after the School successfully completed a rigorous and comprehensive peer review. “The achievement of AACSB accreditation, following on from EQUIS and the Association of MBAs accreditations, demonstrates that LUMS has successfully benchmarked itself against leading business schools worldwide,” Professor Cox said.

Professor Cox said that for LUMS students, both now and in the future, this latest achievement was a further boost to their employment prospects as the School now has worldwide recognition for meeting the highest international standards. “Achieving the accreditation, important though it is, is just part of a wider process of continuous improvement and development which resonates with our culture of innovation here at Lancaster,” she added. “Students and corporate clients of LUMS will know that we are constantly seeking feedback on our programmes and adjusting them accordingly, and our best-in-class research ratings over the years are behind a constant search for ideas and innovation across the School.”

Professor Cox reserved special praise for the staff who made the AACSB accreditation possible. “I would particularly like to thank my colleagues who have worked tirelessly over the past few years to put us in such great shape for the accreditation visit,” she said. “All of us in the LUMS community can share in this achievement and look forward to years of even greater achievement.”
