A Business woman based in the Lancaster Environment Centre has won a prestigious award for green businesses.

Becky Toal, who runs both Sustainable Events and Crowberry Consulting, was one of the winners at the North West Business Environment Awards, held at the prestigious Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on Thursday, June 26.

The North West Business Environment Awards are held annually to recognise innovation and environmental leadership across the North West, and are supported by the Mersey Basin Campaign and the Northwest Regional Development Agency.

Sustainable Events Ltd, a sister company to Crowberry Consulting Ltd which is based at the Lancaster Environment Centre, was runner up in the Sustainable Procurement category of the awards.

Sustainable Events Ltd was created by Becky Toal, Managing Director of Crowberry Consulting and Fiona Pelham, Managing Director of Organise This in 2007. The business provides an online tool which takes event planners through an eight-step process designed to ensure their event stands up to sustainability tests. It offers a built in carbon footprint calculator and provides signposting to sources of free environmental advice.

www.eventsustainability.co.uk is currently the only online tool for event planners that complies with the new British Standard 8901 on Sustainable Event Management.

For a free demonstration of the tool or for further information please contact Becky Toal on 01524 510 281.
