PASSPORT to HE Programme Bursaries
A number of Lancashire County Council bursaries are available to students, from Lancashire schools, attending this summer’s PASSPORT to Higher Education Programme.
Managed by the Department of Continuing Education, PASSPORT is a four-week intensive, 1st year undergraduate level, access programme. It offers a flying start to students meeting certain Widening Participation criteria, who are hoping to enter higher education in the autumn, by allowing them the opportunity to brush up on study skills, learn how to cope on their own as a student and get a flavour of what teaching and learning is like in higher education.
By providing a bridge between school or college and higher education, PASSPORT can provide additional academic qualifications (45 Level C credits) and experience, which may help students to secure a place in higher education; it can also give them a head start in higher education by improving the skills that they need to succeed as a first year student. Last year over 60 students attended the programme including 26 who went on to attend Lancaster. The remainder are also studying in HE. Some Lancaster departments include aspects of PASSPORT in their offer to potential undergraduates.
This year’s PASSPORT takes place from 9th July until 4th August.
